Where Is Struay?

I watched Katie Morag on CBeebies one afternoon.

The children’s series is a live show set in Scotland on a fictional Island called Struay.

                                                         

The stories are based upon the series of Katie Morag children's books; they were written and illustrated by Mairi Hedderwick.

Cherry Campbell plays Katie Morag, who is a delightful little girl that has many adventures with her friends and family on the island of Struay.

The scenery is beautiful although it looks quite cold and windy.

In my opinion it’s a great educational children’s series for older children.                     

My final thought: it’s unfortunate that Katie can only wear a skirt and wellies her knee’s look rather cold, if you look in the background at the start of each episode you’ll see everybody else is wrapped up warm. 

It looks like Katie drew the short straw!

What’s A Makka Pakka?

I watched In the Night Garden on CBeebies one afternoon with my grandson.

The series was created by Andrew Davenport, produced by Ragdoll Productions and narrated by Derek Jacobi.

                                                                

It’s a preschool series set in a magical garden with some unusual characters; Makka Pakka, Upsy Daisy, Igglepiggle and the Tombliboos, just to name a few!

My grandson goes crazy for it, he loves it and so do most young children that I have come across.

My favourite character is Makka Pakka, he loves cleaning and washing faces with his sponge; maybe that’s why my grandson likes cleaning?

I watched one episode with great fascination, at a balloon flying thingy called a Pinky Ponk; it flew slowly over the hedge into the magic garden.

The unusual sounds and characters are too much for me, but my grandson smiles and gets really excited when it comes on, the effect on him is mind boggling, but then what do I know, I'm just a grown up!

The music and songs are very catchy, I find my self singing along to some of them; I especially like the music at the start and end of each episode it’s so beautiful.

In my opinion it's great for young children, they will watch the show for hours.

My final thought: it's very abstract, best suited to young children.

How Does A Worm Body Pop?

I regularly watch Q Pootle 5 on CBeebies with my grandson.

It’s created by Nick Butterworth.

                   

The theme tune is catchy, the animation is great.

Have you ever tried body popping?

Well if you were a worm you would find it easier.

Watch Maurice showing you how it’s done; actually he’s not a worm but a caterpillar.

I like this children’s series very much it’s unique and very comical.

It’s definitely worth watching, the children will love it. 

In my opinion I'm not sure if my grandson understands the humour, he just stares at me when I'm in fits of laughter.

My final thought, body popping is a great way to stay in shape, and by the way I'm not a worm or a caterpillar!

How To Look After Your Pet Dog?

I watched Meet the Pups on CBeebies the other morning with my grandson.

Meet the Pups is a reality show on CBeebies that follow Springer Spaniel puppies from birth to re-homing.                                                  

The narrator is very talented using different voices for the puppies and their parents.

It’s educational and teaches children how to look after a pet dog and shows how much work is involved.

A lovely programme definitely worth watching that shows the pup’s everyday activities; it’s well filmed, edited and produced with no boring bits, the children will love it.

In my opinion, any child or adult wanting a pet should watch this programme first before committing to one remember, “A dog is for life.”

 Another thing to consider is the cost of pet food and vet bills.

My final thought: if your unable to get a pet for whatever reason look around and enjoy the small wild creatures that surround you, they too need your help with just a crumb or too!
