What’s A Neuron?

I watched Nina and the Neurons on CBeebies the other day.

Although the children's programme is aimed towards four to six year old's my two year old grandson enjoys watching it; maybe he’ll be an engineer or scientist one day?

                                                       

The show Nina and the Neurons is produced by Lucille McLaughlin.

This drama series features Katrina Bryan who plays Nina; experiments are conducted with the assistance of children together with the Neurons; five animated characters that represent her senses, Luke her sight, Belle her hearing, Ollie her smell, Felix her touch and baby Bud her taste.

At the beginning of the programme children ask a question; Nina invites them to join her and try out some experiments to find out the answer.

My favourite character is Nina she’s full of energy and is always smiling.

It’s definitely worth watching, the children will love it. 

In my opinion it’s a great show to watch, very educational and is also interesting for adults too!

My final thought; the ‘Go Engineering Song’ is great, it’s got the good feel factor.

When Nina starts singing so do I, if everyone sang the 'Go engineering song' in the morning it would definitely put a smile on your face!

Why Are Muddy Puddles Fun?

I watched Peppa Pig on Channel 5 with my grandson; he got really excited when it came on.

                                                         

Peppa Pig is an animated children’s series, created and directed by Mark Baker and Neville Astley; produced by Phil Davies.
                                               

The theme tune is catchy, the animation is great.

This animated children’s series is about a young pig called Peppa, her family and friends and their daily activities with some fun thrown in.

My favourite character is George he’s so cute.

It’s definitely worth watching, the children will love it. 

In my opinion, it’s fun for young children; it shows friendship and family.

My final thought, I don’t agree with letting young children jump in muddy puddles although, it looks like fun when Peppa and her friends do it, however it can be a disaster especially when you’re at a wedding in your best clothes!

What Is A Rasta Mouse?

I watched Rastamouse on CBeebies some time ago, my grandson really likes the series.

Rastamouse is a stop motion children’s series. It was created by Genevieve Webster and Michael De Souza.                                     

The children’s series is about a crime fighting reggae band called Da Easy Crew featuring Rastamouse, Scratchy and Zoomer.

The theme tune is catchy; it’s definitely worth watching the children will love it. 

The programmes start with President Wensley Dale contacting the Easy Crew in order to solve a mystery.

Once the mystery is solved, the culprit is made to pay for his crime by helping the community, or should I say make a bad thing good!

My favourite character is Rastamouse; he is a logical mouse that likes to help everyone especially the little orphans; his music is good too!

In my opinion this series sends a positive message to children; the culprit in each series has to make good the bad thing they had done, encouraging them to change their ways.

My final thought, Rastamouse is a positive role model; we need more Rastamouse’s in the world, are you one?

Where’s ZingZilla Island?

I watched ZingZilla on CBeebies the other day with my grandson.

ZingZilla is a children’s series that feature primates that live on ZingZilla Island.

                                                             

It was created by Steve Cannon, Alan Robinson and Barry Quinn and written by Simon Davies.

The theme tune is very catchy, the series bright, furry and colourful.

The children’s series feature Primates, Zak, Tang Pansee and Drum they introduce new types of music, sounds or instruments; sometimes they have dancers.

Once the last coconut has fallen you know its time for The Big Zing; the new instrument or piece of music is played and that sound is entwined with the ZingZilla band.

Children dance at the big Zing which encourages children watching to do the same; my grandson has started copying when he sees the children dancing.

My favourite characters are the flamingo birds they harmonize so well.

In my opinion it’s a great introduction to music, educational, fun and entertaining to watch.

My final thought: I wouldn't let DJ Loose anywhere near my tapes!

Where Is Struay?

I watched Katie Morag on CBeebies one afternoon.

The children’s series is a live show set in Scotland on a fictional Island called Struay.

                                                         

The stories are based upon the series of Katie Morag children's books; they were written and illustrated by Mairi Hedderwick.

Cherry Campbell plays Katie Morag, who is a delightful little girl that has many adventures with her friends and family on the island of Struay.

The scenery is beautiful although it looks quite cold and windy.

In my opinion it’s a great educational children’s series for older children.                     

My final thought: it’s unfortunate that Katie can only wear a skirt and wellies her knee’s look rather cold, if you look in the background at the start of each episode you’ll see everybody else is wrapped up warm. 

It looks like Katie drew the short straw!

What’s A Makka Pakka?

I watched In the Night Garden on CBeebies one afternoon with my grandson.

The series was created by Andrew Davenport, produced by Ragdoll Productions and narrated by Derek Jacobi.

                                                                

It’s a preschool series set in a magical garden with some unusual characters; Makka Pakka, Upsy Daisy, Igglepiggle and the Tombliboos, just to name a few!

My grandson goes crazy for it, he loves it and so do most young children that I have come across.

My favourite character is Makka Pakka, he loves cleaning and washing faces with his sponge; maybe that’s why my grandson likes cleaning?

I watched one episode with great fascination, at a balloon flying thingy called a Pinky Ponk; it flew slowly over the hedge into the magic garden.

The unusual sounds and characters are too much for me, but my grandson smiles and gets really excited when it comes on, the effect on him is mind boggling, but then what do I know, I'm just a grown up!

The music and songs are very catchy, I find my self singing along to some of them; I especially like the music at the start and end of each episode it’s so beautiful.

In my opinion it's great for young children, they will watch the show for hours.

My final thought: it's very abstract, best suited to young children.
