What’s An Exoplanet?

The question is, “What’s An Exoplanet?”

An exoplanet is the name given to planets that orbit stars other than the sun that are outside of the solar system.

There are thousands of exoplanets that have been discovered by the Kepler space telescope for years.

They come in many sizes with different surfaces, e.g. icy or rocky etc.

With 500 solar systems already found and new ones being discovered yearly many more exoplanets will exist.

I read an article that said we’ve been searching for habited planets for four years.

So, isn’t it possible that one will be found in the future, as with so many exoplanets in the solar system I don’t believe that not one of them is not habited.

We rely too much on visual evidence which I must point out doesn’t mean that life doesn’t exist because we humans can’t see it.

But hey, I’m no scientist, what do you think?

Hiccupotamus

I read the children’s book called, ‘Hiccupotamus.’

This children’s book was written and beautifully illustrated by Aaron Zenz.

It’s a lovely children’s rhyming picture book about a hippo.

When a Hippopotamus keeps hiccupping, a Centipede, Rhinoceros and Elephant decide to find a way to cure him, by using some very unusual techniques indeed.

But can they cure him or will he continue hiccupping forever?

It’s a wonderful book that encourages caring and friendship.

This children’s picture book has great colorful illustrations.

Young children will like the unusual rhyming words, it’s fun to say them.

So, why not read the book together, or watch it on YouTube to find out if the hippo was cured or not, then you can tell me how you would stop hiccups.

Is The Giant Hogweed An Alien Life Form?

The question is, “Is The Giant Hogweed An Alien Life Form?”

I read an article that claimed that the heatwave in the United Kingdom was causing the most toxic plant the “Giant Hogweed,” to spread.

The plant, it’s botanical name “Heracleum Mantegazzianum,” was imported from Central Asia in 1893.

I wonder if the importers knew how dangerous this plant was before releasing it to the wild, as the sap contains toxic chemicals and can burn people and animals if its touched.

Now I understand most plants have a defence mechanism if they feel threatened but this seems a bit extreme for a plant.

So, with that in mind, could it be an alien life form?

We all assume that aliens walk on two legs, but could some have roots instead?

But hey, I’m no Botanist, it’s just a theory.

What do you think?

Pig The Pug

I read the children’s book called, ‘Pig The Pug.’

This children’s book was written and illustrated by Aaron Blabey.

It’s about a greedy selfish pug dog called Pig. He lives with a sausage dog called Trevor.

When Trevor wants pig to share his toys that’s when the trouble starts. As Pig is very selfish and doesn’t want to share any of his toys with Trevor, not even one. Instead he stands on top of his huge pile of toys guarding them.

Unfortunately, the unsteadiness of the huge pile of toys makes Pig topple over.

But it works out alright in the end, for Trevor is happy he can now play with Pig for he’s wrapped up in bandages and can no longer complain.

It’s a delightful book that I’d recommend reading with young children. It teaches us all that being selfish doesn’t pay.

So, remember don’t be like Pig, be like Trevor who is always friendly, playful and kind.

So, why not read it now or watch it on YouTube, then you can tell me what you think?

Can We Create A Synthetic Life Form?

The question is, “Can We Create A Synthetic Life Form?”

I read an article about scientists creating a new life form in a lab by altering the DNA.
DNA consist of four letters G = Guanine, T = Thymine, C = Cytosine and A = Adenine, together these create a code that underlies all living things.

However, this has now changed since scientists have expanded the genetic code by introducing synthetic ones.

Although at early stages this could create an entirely new life form.

So, with the creation of this new synthetic biology do you think it will help or hinder mankind?

I believe that for every good that comes out of new science, bad follows too.

For in the future, isn’t it possible that this new creation will make humans extinct.

With this in mind could this have happened before, as we too have an evolutionary missing link between apes and man?

But hey, I’m no Paleontologist, it’s just a theory.

So, what do you think?

The Very Itchy Bear

I read the children’s book called, ‘The Very Itchy Bear.’

This children’s book was written and beautifully illustrated by Nick Bland.

This delightful children’s book tells the tale of a bear and a flea.

When bear gets a flea in his fur it makes him itch everywhere.

Jumping into the sea, it makes him feel better and also gets rid of flea.

But alas bear feels lonely at sea, and when he finds the birds want to eat flea he goes on a mission to rescue it.

Now bear and flea are inseparable, but is that a good thing, for only time will tell if they will stay together forever.

A lovely book that encourages caring and friendship.

This children’s book has great illustrations, all children will like it.

So, why not read it or watch it together on YouTube, then you can tell me what you think and what you would do to get rid of an itch.
