I read the children’s picture book
called, ‘The Giving Tree.’
This children’s book was written and
illustrated by Shel Silverstein.
It’s tells a wonderful story of the love
between a tree and a little boy.
As time goes by and the little boy
grows up, tree see’s less of him.
Now as a man boy visits tree, but on each
occasion, he asks tree for things.
Tree is so happy to see him, and loves
the boy unconditionally she lets him take all of her apples to sell to make
money. Then her branches to make him a house. Then later her trunk, so it can
be made into a boat. Now tree is only a stump.
When I read this book, it was through
tears. I found it very emotional, especially as the boy (now a man) took
everything from tree that helped him to achieve his success.
The fact that he kept taking from the
tree until the tree had nothing left to give was really unpleasant and disturbing,
but unfortunately this scenario happens daily and I’m not talking about trees.
Some people give up everything they own
to help others, whilst others just take, take, take. Which one are you?
This is a great book I’d truly
recommend not just for children but for adults to read too.
In the meantime, be helpful and kind to
others, for you never know when circumstances may change for you.
Read it or watch it on YouTube now,
then you can tell me what you think.
