The Singing Mermaid

I read the children’s picture book called, ‘The Singing Mermaid,’ the other day.

This children’s book was written by Julia Donaldson and is beautifully illustrated by Lydia Monk.

It tells the tale of a happy mermaid that loves to sing.

She sings to the fish under the ocean, and to the birds flying high, and to the small creatures that live on the sea shore.

Then one day, Sam Sly’s Circus comes to town. Tempted by fame and fortune the mermaid’s persuaded by Sam to leave Silversands and the deep blue sea, to sing in a pool at the circus instead.

Unfortunately, Sam had lied, and instead of the mermaid living in a pool, he kept her in a fish tank instead.

This is a great book that teaches young children not to be too trusting.

As parents, we all know you never get something for nothing, there’s either a catch or ulterior motive. In Sam Sly’s case it was to make fame and fortune for himself, the greedy fellow.

To find out what happens at the end of the book and to see if the mermaid escapes read the book now or watch it on YouTube, then you can tell me what you think.

The Walkways Olesia – Science Fiction Book

I’d like to introduce to you, “The Walkways Olesia.”

This is a new Science fiction book written by Charmain Ingleton, picture illustrated by Andrew Wong.

This sci-fi book tells the story of Earth and another alien world called Historia being invaded by the Authoritians, a chemical addicted species that are feared throughout the outer galaxies.

With Earth and Historia fallen to the Authoritians it seemed all hope was lost.

Banished; Stephanie guided by the ancestral spirits goes in search of a mystical spear that will not only save Historia but unbeknown to her would transform her into an immortal.

Now the tables would be turned as the Authoritians did not stand a chance against, “Olesia.” Defender of mankind and the universe!

"The Walkways Olesia," is the second book in the exciting new science fiction Walkways trilogy.  Why not read the first book, “The Walkways Awakening,” it will open your eyes to what’s really out there!

The Pigeon Needs a Bath

I read the children’s picture book called, ‘The Pigeon Needs a Bath,’ the other afternoon.

This children’s book was written and illustrated by Mo Willems.

This delightful witty children’s book tells the tale of a pigeon that needs a bath.

Pigeon makes every excuse as to why he shouldn’t bathe until the flies tell him to take one.

Then once in the bath pigeon finds it quite enjoyable and stays in the water far too long.

Now he won’t get out of the water!

If you want to find out how long pigeon stayed in the bath water for, then read the book or watch the story now on YouTube.

Then you can tell me if he beat your record for staying in the bath.

It’s a great story for young children to read at bedtime especially after bath time.

Would You Rather Meet A Real Alien?

The question is, “Would You Rather Meet A Real Alien?”

I read an article that stated that a signal had been picked up from a red dwarf star.

Known as Ros 128, its location is approximately 11 light years from Earth.

The signal was picked up on 12th May 2017 by a huge radio telescope, the Arecibo Observatory.

This telescope is built inside a sinkhole in Puerto Rico.

The star was observed for ten minutes, when the signal was picked up.

Now I assumed that telescopes were to spot or look for alien life forms, but not only do they look for aliens, they also look for distant galaxies and asteroids.

With that said, when an alien transmission was mentioned, it was dismissed as a human made satellite. Now I feel like I’m back in the 1960’s.

Surely, it’s about time the record changed on that one.

If there’s proof other species exist other than the birds and the bees, then we should all be made aware.

Cos for me Sci-fi movies are great to introduce alien species, but I’d rather meet the real thing.

But hey, I’m no Astronomer, what do you think?

The Magic Hat

I read the children’s picture book called, ‘The Magic Hat,’ the other morning.

This children’s book was written by Mem Fox, and illustrated by Tricia Tusa.

This children’s book tells the delightful tale of a magic hat.

When the magic hat appears in a town and lands on a person’s head it instantly transforms them into an animal.

Fortunately, a wizard appears in the town and puts a stop to the magic hat doing any more damage.

But can he turn the towns people back into people again or will they remain as animals forever?

What do you think?

It’s a lovely story that young children will enjoy as they guess what animal the person will turn into.

Why not read it now or watch it on YouTube now, then you can tell me what animal you’d like to be.
