I read the book
‘Harry the Dirty Dog’ the other morning which was written by Gene Zion, the
pictures are by Margaret Bloy Graham.
It’s a delightful
book about a white and black spotted dog called Harry.
He hates baths and
when he learns that he’s to have one he hides the scrubbing brush and runs away
from home.
When he’s
hungry he returns home dirty, unfortunately his family doesn’t recognize him.
However Harry
has a plan to show the family that he is indeed Harry?
The story shows
how Harry has to comply in order to prove his identity and to get his dinner
and sleep in his little bed.
The lesson for
small children is that they need to listen to their parents as they only want
the best for them.
It’s definitely
worth reading.
So my final
thoughts are; it’s a lovely book to read to young children.
