What Would You Rather Do?

I read the children’s book called ‘Would you rather,’ the other morning.

This book was written and illustrated by John Burningham.

It’s a lovely story about a little boy and his creative imagination.
Throughout this wonderfully illustrated book, questions are asked and choices are to be made which encourages the reader to join in.

At the beginning of the book you have a choice of whether you’d like your house to be surrounded by water, snow or a jungle? From then on the choices get a bit more interesting and wackier!

This is a wonderful story for young children, by encouraging imagination and creativity, it could open their minds to other possibilities; to do what they’d rather instead of the same routine?

My final thought’s on this book is that it’s a great way to interact with your child, and if they’re a fussy eater, then at meal times why not offer a choice of foods using the method in the book, for example ask your child, ‘Would you rather have spaghetti, pasta or pizza for lunch?’ Let them make the choice, at least that way you know they’re going to eat some of it.

It doesn’t have to stop there you could offer choices throughout the day, it could transform you and your child’s life, and later as they get older you could try your negotiating skills out on them!

So why not read it or watch it on YouTube and tell me what you think?
