Why Use A Purple Crayon?

I read the book ‘Harold and the Purple Crayon,’ the other morning which was written by Crockett Johnson.

It’s a delightful story about a little boy called Harold.

When Harold decides to go for a walk in the moonlight, he begins by drawing the sights with a large purple crayon.

Then as his imagination grows so does his adventure!

From a forest consisting of one apple tree and a dragon to guard it; to flying in a hot air balloon and eating pie!

All he desires at the end is to find his window and his bed to sleep in.

It’s a lovely story that I’d recommend reading to younger children especially at bedtime.

The moral in this story is to ‘Never give a child crayons before bedtime!’

My final thought’s on this book is; that it encourages imagination and creativity.

Now where did I put those crayons!

Do Cats Prefer White Shoes?

I read the book called ‘Pete the Cat I Love My White Shoes,’ one afternoon.

This book was created and illustrated by James Dean. The story was written by Eric Litwin.

It’s a delightful story about a cat called Pete and his brand new white shoes.

Pete’s wearing his brand new white shoes and as he walks along singing about his lovely white shoes its not long before he steps into something!

However that doesn’t faze him and as his shoes change colour he continues to walk-along and sing.

The moral of the story in this book is that ‘No matter what you step in, keep walking along and singing your song because it’s all good’! Adults take note.

My final thought’s on this book is; that it has a great storyline, it’s a fun and an entertaining read for young children and adults.

Would A Cat Wear Sunglasses?

I read the book called ‘Pete the Cat and his Magic Sunglasses,’ the other morning.

This book was created and illustrated by James Dean. The story was written by Kimberley Dean.

It’s a delightful story about a cat called Pete and some magical sunglasses.

The day is wet and Pete is unhappy, but then his grumpy friend comes along and gives him some magic sunglasses to try on that transforms his rainy day into a warm sunny one, making him very happy indeed.

Everything looks great, until the magic sunglasses break!

Then a wise owl speaks and tells Pete that he didn’t need magic sunglasses to see things in a new way; he just needed to remember to look for the good in everyday.

Pete soon realized that what the owl had said was true, he looked around and is no longer sad or blue.

The moral to the story is a positive one, ‘To look for the good in everyday.’

My final thought’s on this book is; that it’s a great story for young children to read that has a positive ending. Maybe we could all learn from reading it?

What’s A Wonkey Donkey?

I read the book ‘Wonkey Donkey’ which was written by Craig Smith, with illustrations by Katz Cowley.

It’s the funniest story I have read this year about a very misfortunate donkey.

When a bird walks down the road and meets a donkey he finds that the donkey is most unfortunate to have only three legs, one eye and a lot more issues.

However the donkey’s mischievous and likes Country music so that’s a bonus.

In my view this is the funniest book I have read. The illustrations are great.

Then I watched Craig Smith singing it on You Tube and I was in stitches, it’s hilarious.

I would recommend this book for children and adults it’s very funny.

My final thoughts on this book is that it’s a great book to read or better still watch on You Tube because if you’re a little down in the dumps, you won’t be for long.

When A Snail Saves The Day?

I read the book ‘The Snail and the Whale’ which was written by Julia Donaldson, with illustrations by Axel Scheffler.

It’s a lovely story about a grey blue hump back whale who takes a tiny snail around the world on his tail.

But when the whale gets into difficulties and gets beached onto the shore, the tiny snail must get help.

Although it’s hard when you’re tiny he leaves a snail trail which leads to their rescue and a happy ending.

In my view a great book for children to understand in just simple terms what happens to whales if they come too close to the shore and what we can do to help.

It’s definitely worth reading.

My final thoughts on this book are that it’s a lovely book to read to young children, slightly sad with a happy ending.
