Just My Friend And Me

I read the children’s book, “Just My Friend and Me.”

This children’s book was written and illustrated by Mercer Mayer.

It’s a delightful children’s picture book that tells the tale of a little critter that invites his friend over for the day. He hoped to have fun with his friend playing different things together, but it doesn’t work out well as his friend has an accident with the little critters new bike.

As I read this book, I realised how one-sided this friendship really was. The little critter was kind, whereas his friend took advantage of him and misused all of his toys.

In fact I’d say he was more of a bully than a friend. I’m sure we all know one of these!

If I was the little critter I wouldn’t be his friend anymore but is it as simple as this for a child today?

Do they understand what a good friend is or are they just happy to settle for any child who will play with them?

I’d recommend reading this book to all children. It’s a great way to interact with your child and find out if they have a friend like the little critters.

So read the book or listen to the story on YouTube, then you can tell me what you think.

It’s a wonderful story about being different and the need to belong.

So take a leaf out of the duck billed dinosaurs book and if you feel that either you don’t fit in or don’t belong then don’t be a clone and stick around, set-up your own group about the things that you like and then the future will look quite bright.

I Hate Bullies

I read the children’s book called, “Don’t be a Bully Billy.

Written by Phil Roxbee Cox and illustrated by Jan McCafferty.

This children’s story is a cautionary tale about a bully called Billy. He makes all the children at school unhappy and sad.

Then one day a new kid arrives and Billy as usual bullies him taking away his ball which he refuses to give back, but that was until he meets the new kid’s big brother who I’d say is sort of out of this world!

Unfortunately bullies come in all shapes and sizes and can be found in all types of establishments and environments.

So if you’re worried about bullying, why not read this book or listen to the story on Youtube with your child then after you can calmly ask random questions about school, this way you may learn the truth.

This children’s book was written and illustrated by Emily Winfield Martin.

This beautiful children’s book is a great read for parents as it expresses thoughts on what our children could experience through their journey to adulthood.

We always want the best for our children, but the best gift of all is love, encouragement and support, and with these three things they will go far.
